Dr. Andrew R. Barron – BSc PhD Chief Technology Officer

Dr. Barron is the Charles W. Duncan, Jr. – Welch Chair of Chemistry and also a Professor of Materials Science and NanoEngineering at Rice University in Houston, Texas. He is also the Ser Cymru Chair of Low Carbon Energy and Environment at Swansea University in the UK. He gained his BSc and PhD degrees from Imperial College (London). Dr. Barron spent eight years as a Professor of Chemistry at Harvard University after performing post-doctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of over 450 publications, 20 Patents and 5 books with current research involving the application of nanotechnology to energy and environment. Dr. Barron is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, and the recipient of several awards, including: Hümboldt Senior Scientist Research Award, the Corday Morgan Medal, the Meldola Medal, and the first Welch Foundation Norman Hackerman Award. Barron is the co-founder of several companies over a diverse range of industries.

Dr. Enrique Barrera – PhD Chief Science Advisor

Dr. Barrera is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Rice University and recipient of the 2002 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring, which he received in a White House ceremony in March 2003. His other awards include the NASA Group Achievement Award (2001), NASA National Research Council Senior Fellow at the Johnson Space Center (1999), the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award (1993) and Fellow of the American Society of Materials (2004). Dr. Barrera’s research focus is on the processing and development of nanocomposite/hybrids and nanotube systems. He has published 120 journal papers on nanotube research and has over 50 patents submitted in nanomaterials development.

Jay Rothenberger – Vice President Engineering

Jay Rothenberger is the Vice President Engineering at C-Bond Systems. Prior to joining C-Bond, he was President of OptiTech Engineering providing engineering consulting services to the glass and chemical manufacturing industries since May 2014. From 2002-2014, he held manufacturing and research and development leadership positions for Guardian Industries Corp. and NSG/Pilkington, two of the world’s largest flat glass manufacturing companies. Prior to joining the glass industry, Mr. Rothenberger worked in the chemical manufacturing industry for Occidental Chemical Corp, where he held technical engineering and supervision positions. He is an expert in the areas of glass manufacturing and product development. He received B.S. degrees in Chemistry (Fredonia College) and Chemical Engineering (University at Buffalo), as well as an MBA in Finance (Cardean University).
